BBC ALBA, the Gaelic television channel, is the only one to broadcast newco Rangers first match – a cup match with Brechin they eventually won 2-1.
Curiously, BBC Scotland’s television news at 18.45, in giving the result of the match and mentioning the £30,000 Rangers fans brought to the local economy of Brechin, said that there was no television largesse and that the game was televised only by ‘a Gaelic channel’.
Why so coy?
Or, in another way of putting it, why so mean spirited as not to name a stable mate?
It’s not as if they had to such their teeth and avoid saying ‘STV’.
Is the Scottish Auntie a bit miffed that BBC ALBA has done a lot better than predicted once it finally got on to Freeview?
